To aid the children, adolescents and their families in their personal, social and professional development, thereby become the protagonists of their own lifes.
Arco is an institution whose fields of activity include education, preparations of individuals for the labor market as well as all kinds of interactions with the local community. These ideas can be realized thanks to the support of crucial partners, private donations and public funds.
We are incorporated into the social security network of São Paulo. Our efforts guarantee the basic needs of over 360 children and teenagers in the school of Arco (centro para Crianças e Adolescentes, CCA), as well as those of over 60 teenagers which are part of our youth center (centro para juventude, CJ). Thus, we offer an integrative and complete education.
Arco was founded in 1991 by Sidney Vinha and Fritz Mauti as a children’s home. It cared for children whose parents did not have sufficient financial means required to care for them. The name Arco can be metaphorically understood as a bow, which shoots the children as arrows into the world, aiming social integration.
Thanks to the support of various firms, organizations and volunteers as well as funds by the government of Saõ Paulo is it possible for Arco to substantively extend its offers in the last few years, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Apart from the education of children and work with the youth, numerous projects were drafted and carried out taking into account the demands of the local community.
During the past years, a group of coordinators, members of the board and volunteers conducted a study giving the name ARCO a new meaning:
After almost 30 years, Arco has managed to become a recognized organization in the field of social work, known for competence, transparency and credibility.
The social project of Arco prioritizes education focused on providing an education based on independent thinking and integrative development. Therefore, Arco’s methods are built on these consecutive pillars: knowledge, politics and the following theoretical references: Sistema Único de Assistência Social, Proteção Social Básica, Protagonismo Juvenil e Construtivismo (1923), Educação em Valores Humanos (1982), Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente (1990), Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais e Quatro Pilares da Educação (1996) e Temas Transversais (1998).
Arco relies on a board that is reelected yearly and consists of volunteering teachers, entrepreneurs and leading executives. The goal of their monthly meeting is to continuously improve the qualitative work at Arco.
